My name is Lara, and I am an Upper 6 student and a current Head Girl at Queen Anne’s. I joined the school in 2017 as a Lower 4.
After living in Singapore for 7 years, my family and I moved back to the UK where my sister joined Queen Anne’s and I joined a local primary school. Watching my sister utterly love her time here made me instantly want to come to Queen Anne’s as well. From the stellar reputation, pristine grounds and extensive variety of activities- every aspect of the school appealed to me. I chose Queen Anne’s because of the standard of Lacrosse offered by the coaches at school. I knew their expertise and dedication in supporting every girl’s passion would elevate my lacrosse skill to the next level.
I am currently studying Geography, Business and Psychology at A Level. My favourite subject is Psychology, as I can explore the human brain's inner workings, which will ultimately help me better understand the feelings and emotions of my friends, family and colleagues within the work place. I love that psychology is a direct pathway towards making a difference in people's lives as it can reduce human suffering. I have particularly loved the forensic topic in psychology, which has been fascinating to learn of both the genetic and biological explanations for offending and the different ways of dealing with it.
I truly enjoy girls-only education as it gives the girls the freedom and confidence to learn in an environment where they feel empowered to do anything and be anything they want to be. Although life beyond school won't be single-sex, I think it's vital to provide the girls with the opportunity to take on leadership roles within the school so they can truly thrive with experience when taking on leadership roles in the workplace.

My biggest achievement since joining Queen Anne's is being named Head Girl for my final year at the school. After looking up to the previous head girls, it's a real privilege to have been given the opportunity to make the same lasting impact on the current generation of Queen Anne's Girls. I want to ensure Queen Anne's is a happy place for every girl who comes here; a place where girls can thrive, make lifelong friendships and be proud for each other's achievements.
My most unforgettable experience at Queen Annes was the two-week lacrosse tour to the states last summer. The trip provided amazing experiences playing against American lacrosse teams, the time to see some world-famous landmarks while really allowing our teams to bond beyond the field.
I have always been keen to make the most of the opportunities presented to me by the school. My co-curricular pursuits have been a key factor in helping me maintain balance while making positive contributions to school life. Since joining Queen Anne's, I have tried music, art, drama and even dance; ultimately, my passion truly thrives on the sports pitch. I love the ethos behind team sports as it encourages individuals to work together towards a common goal. One of my proudest achievements was being the youngest of 18 to represent England in the U20 European championships in Prague. The Queen Anne's sports department has been a huge contributing factor to my sporting success. From coaches holding extra sessions beyond scheduled practice to genuine interest and care for your personal progression, I truly couldn't have done it without them.
