Queen Anne’s Students Secure Top University Places After Impressive A Level Results 

 

Queen Anne’s School in Reading is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our outgoing Upper 6 (Year 13) students. Having powered through the challenges of recent years, the 2024 cohort has delivered fabulous results, with 84% A*-C grades and 36% A*-A.  

Queen Anne’s students will be furthering their studies at an excellent range of universities including Exeter, Durham, LSE, St Andrew's, Bath, King’s College London and many more Russell Group universities. Keira, a high level trampolinist who joined Queen Anne’s from Lambrook School accomplished a fantastic A* A, A in Biology, Geography and Psychology and is going to study Biomedical Science at the University of York. Ella, who joined Queen Anne’s in 2018 and is also a high level trampolinist, will go on to study Law at the University of Bath after achieving A*, A*, A. 

Queen Anne’s students often choose to study and pursue STEM subjects with increasing popularity, including medicine pathways. Congratulations must go to Georgia, who joined Queen Anne’s in L4 (Year 7) from the Manor Prep, and gained a well-deserved A, A, A. Georgia served as Deputy Head Girl at Queen Anne’s this year and will be studying Medicine at Plymouth University after a gap year. Rebecca, who joined Queen Anne’s from Maltman’s Green School in 2017, secured her place to study Environmental Science at the University of Birmingham. Helen, from Hong Kong, has secured a place at the London School of Economics and Political Science to study Environment and Sustainable Development with Economics.  

A notable achievement came from Katie, who achieved A* A* A including full marks in all her English Literature papers. More of the cohort achieved a clean sweep of A* and A grades, including Aine Madeley, who joined Queen Anne’s from Caversham with 3 A*s and Issy, from Wargrave, with A*, A*, A. 

The PE department were particularly proud of Alice from Caversham, who gained an A in English Literature, A in Geography and A in PE and will be studying Physiotherapy at the University of Birmingham. Alice has played a pivotal role in the sports community at Queen Anne’s, including as Sports Prefect and member of the Lacrosse A team.  

Criminology students at Queen Anne’s had an excellent year, with 86% achieving an A* or A grade. Mr Ben Stephenson, Teacher of Criminology, Director of Sixth Form and incoming Deputy Head Academic, said: “these results are a testament to our students’ dedication and curiosity. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness their hard work pay off, and I couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments.” 

Hilary Jones, a Head of Year and Teacher of Chemistry at Queen Anne’s, said "As both a staff member and a parent at Queen Anne's School, I am beyond proud of my daughter’s outstanding A level results. The nurturing and inspiring learning environment here truly empowers students and is a place where they can be the best they can be. Dedicated teachers support and challenge every student, helping them grow into confident, capable individuals ready to take on the world”. Melissa will be studying English Literature and History at Cardiff University.  

Lucy, who joined Queen Anne’s from St Mary’s Prepatory School, will be studying Business Management with Industrial Experience at the University of Exeter. Lucy will be joining her sister, Sophie, a Queen Anne’s alumna from 2020, who will be entering her final year at Exeter.
