Charity, fundraising and community are integral to life at Queen Anne’s and each year, students choose two charities that they wish to support, one local and one international. From mufti days to markets, the community organise many fun activities throughout the year to support a wide range of charities.

Although many charities benefit from the fundraising, the students vote to have two main charities for the year – one local and one international. In the 2020-21 year the girls have chosen to support The CHIME Project and Launchpad Reading

Recent highlights have included being awarded the Educational Change award for the most impactful project in education at the Roundtable Global Youth Awards. This fantastic achievement was from the strong partnership that Sixth Form psychology and physical education students have created with Sport In Mind - a Berkshire based charity that provides individuals recovering from mental health issues with an opportunity to enjoy physical activity.

In December, the girls invited local senior care home residents for the annual Christmas Tea Party. The girls and the guests shared carols, enjoyed dance performances and the whole afternoon was a valuable time for different generations to connect in the Christmas spirit.

Sixth Form students also have a dedicated volunteer scheme with local school Mickland’s Primary School. Each week, students from Queen Anne’s visit Mickland’s to run valuable reading sessions with younger students, to aid their reading, speaking and storytelling abilities.

Last year, we saw the school field transformed into a sea of pink as more than 500 students and staff took part in Race For Life Schools. In just a few short weeks the community smashed the fundraising target of £2000 with final donations coming in at a fantastic £5440!
