On Tuesday 8 October, in support and celebration of World Mental Health Day, Sixth Form students from Queen Anne’s School worked with the mental health charity ‘Sport in Mind’ to support their annual charity football tournament.

Sport in Mind is a Berkshire based charity that provides individuals recovering from mental health issues with an opportunity to enjoy physical activity.

The girls encouraged donations of sports drinks and energy filled snacks fo the players, and even picked up supplies themselves!

Our Queen Anne’s Sixth Form volunteers had a great time supporting the charity Sport in Mind at their annual football tournament, which has now been running for over 10 years!

The girls especially loved supporting the players who face mental challenges everyday.

Jess E (L6) said “It was amazing to see how much the players valued the tournament and the impact it had on them”.

Two other Lower Sixth girls commented on how “supportive the players across all teams were to each other”.

Neil Harris, founder of Sport in Mind, said:

“Sport in Mind would like to offer huge thanks to the students from Queen Anne’s School for supporting our annual football tournament at Reading FC. The feedback we have received from all our players has been hugely positive, with many commenting that this was the best tournament they have ever taken part in! The success of the tournament was undoubtedly down to the fantastic support the students from Queen Anne’s offered our charity, performing the tasks asked of them to an exceptionally high standard. It has again been an absolute pleasure working with Queen Anne’s School and Sport in Mind looks forward to continuing to work with the school throughout the 2019-20 academic year.”
