Sixth Form Competition

Each year, all Lower Sixth students from the five schools of the United Westminster Grey Coat Foundation are invited to take part in the Foundation Lower Sixth Essay Competition.

This year, twelve students from Queen Anne’s School submitted an independent, self-directed piece of research (a subject of their choice), culminating in a 2500 word paper. Well done to the following students for their entries:

Anna T, Abigail H, Emilia M, Elizabeth R, Lea B, Isabella S, Holly K, Niamh M, Amelia F, Amelia H, Annabel K and Ellen G.

All students completed and submitted excellent essays; they are all to be commended for their excellent work. The final twelve essays were assessed by Dr Nicholas Perkins – Associate Professor and Tutor in English, St Hugh’s College, Oxford.

The Foundation Lower Sixth Essay Competition culminated in a celebration dinner at Emanuel School on Thursday 28th November 2019.

Two students from Queen Anne’s came in the top six out of 44 submitted essays in total! Congratulations to:

  • Ellen G – 2nd place for an essay on: Should Artificial Intelligence Be The Future of Medicine and Healthcare?
  • Annabel K – 4th place for an essay on: Is Nationalism A Force For Good?

Well done to all who entered this year’s Foundation Lower Sixth Essay Competition.
