QAS Skiing Superstar Carys (4s) slaloms to success
Carys (4s) attended the the Welsh Alpine Championships at the end of January. It was a steep learning curve moving up to U14s category and competing in the same races & courses as the U21s, at only 12 years old. However Carys enjoyed it immensely and and even placed higher than some U16 girls in the overall Women's category.
Carys was only tenths of hundreds of points between competitors who spend 4-12 weeks out on the slopes in academy programmes, with Carys getting in one swift day of practice the day before!
Results:
GS U14s
YOB: 8th
Welsh Title: 5th
Unfortunately she DSQd in the slalom run 1, but had a fantastic 2nd run.
February half term was also busy for Carys as she skied in the Chatel ARRC and came 2nd in the U14s Girls, and 9th overall out of over 35 racers aged 10-30!
It has been a very encouraging start to the snow season as a first year U14. Queen Anne's is immensely proud of Carys for all of her sporting achievements and making such a positive contribution to our school.
