Competition Achievement

Congratulations to Melissa J (4), Lara L (4), Luisa B (U4), Gabrielle H (U4) and Molly S (L5) who have been successful in reaching the finals of the HSBC/British Council Mandarin Chinese Speaking Competition!

The girls competed in a group at the Regional Heat in London at the British Council, on Wednesday 5 December 2018, against a number of other schools. They performed a five minute drama piece, which they had composed themselves, completely in Mandarin Chinese.
This performance also included a Chinese song, which they performed confidently in front of an audience of judges and fellow competitors.

You can watch their excellent group performance below.

Molly S (L5) also competed in the individual heats, and successfully qualified for the final as well. She prepared a two minute presentation to a panel of distinguished judges, and was marked on her communication, presentation, fluency of Mandarin, use of vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. Congratulations Molly!

The Competition Final will be held at the British Museum on Wednesday 6 February 2019, which the girls are already practicing and preparing thoroughly for. They will be competing for the grand prize of a weeklong trip to Beijing, China. Students will visit historical sites, interact with Chinese students and experience Chinese culture with the British Council.

Good luck to all our girls competing in the HSBC/British Council Mandarin Chinese Speaking Competition! We are extremely proud of your achievements so far, and know you will continue to work hard in your preparations for the grand final.
