A round-up of all the latest sports news in the week commencing Monday 30 September 2019.

Lacrosse

Berkshire Lacrosse Tournament

This week the Senior 1sts, Senior 2nds and U15A travelled to Downe House for the Berkshire Lacrosse Tournament. It was a fantastic day of lacrosse with the Senior 2nds finishing in second place in their tournament and the Senior 1sts and U15As winning their respective tournaments.

Lacrosse Academy Trials

In other lacrosse news, Holly B (U5), Hettie W (L5) and Emma B (L5) have heard that they have been put forward for a England National Academy Trial in the October half term.

Poppy W (L5) has been also accepted into the Centaurs Lacrosse Club Academy after attending several trial dates.


Netball

It has been a busy week on the netball front with matches against the Abbey and Ranelagh.

The U13A team had a long hard fought, high intensity match against Portsmouth High School in the netball school cup. At half time the score was even, but eventually Portsmouth High managed to pull ahead.

U15A v The Abbey A: Won 10-7
Commended: Cesca M (L5)
U15B v The Abbey A: Lost 7-13
Commended: Bo D (L5)

U16A v Ranalagh: Won 10-8
Commended: Amelie H (U5)
U16B v Ranalagh: Lost 4-6
Commended: Orla W (U5)

U13A v Portsmouth High School Cup Match: Lost 24-40
Players’ Player: Annie H (4)
Commended: Iris C (4), Jemima B (4)


Tennis

The U13 girls attended the Regional U13 Tennis Finals on Tuesday. They qualified for this after winning the county final last term.

At the regional finals the girls played an outstanding day of tennis and qualified for the final of the tournament with a particularly memorable win against Wycombe Abbey. In the  final they saw off Portsmouth High School to win.

They are now officially the strongest U13 tennis team in the whole of Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire!
