Jazz and Big Band Evening with The Oratory school

An evening of jazz and fun tied into one! The Jazz and Big Band Evening opened our eyes to just a part of the musical talent that we have at Queen Anne’s School.

The evening had a cabaret feel – if you closed your eyes you could be at Ronnie Scott’s!

Jazz and Big Band

First performing were the clarinets, closing with the favourite jungle book tune ‘The Bare Necessities’ followed by the Jazabelles with ‘New York, New York’ and stunning us for 3 more songs.

Following our Queen Anne’s girls, along with Mr Padley and Mr Haystead, were the Oratory School – with their fast-paced performance and team of mixed teachers and students. They impressed with strangely named pieces but definitely not strange sounds! Very well done to them too.

After the Oratory we had a musical tribute to Mr Bushby – and Queen Anne’s did him proud! The most amazing piece was performed with such a loving connection back to Mr Bushby. One to be remembered.

Following the interval we had many more incredible pieces to make a Thursday evening even more enjoyable!

Jazz and Big Band Performace

Well done to all that performed and showed support.
