A Level Geography Fieldwork on the South Coast

Geography Sixth Form

Our A Level geographers spent three days on their residential geography fieldwork expedition.

Their accommodation was in the South Downs YHA, as the normal venue of Juniper Hall is being renovated.

The L6 students worked incredibly hard, tackling geographical knowledge, fieldwork enquiry, and statistical testing in the classroom, and collecting data in the field.

One afternoon was spent in Lewes town centre collecting data on urban microclimates, and one day at the coast looking at the effects of longshore drift and erosion on pebble size and beach profiles.

The purpose of this fieldwork was to set students up to complete their own independent geographical fieldwork for their NEA, later in the year.
