Our Tycoon Businesses Begin Trading!

Six groups of our Upper Four students are taking part in the Tycoon Enterprise Competition, creating start-up businesses and competing to make the most profit!

The Tycoon Enterprise Competition is a unique enterprise competition, led by the Peter Jones Foundation, for students across the UK.

Every participating team writes a business plan, borrows funds to start their business and begin trading, competing with other student companies through a kickstarter style platform, in a safe and controlled environment.

Our six businesses competing this year are:

Beauty and Beyond sell organic lip scrubs in a variety of flavours, such as coconut, coffee and mint. Many of their products are vegan and gluten free. 

ConneXions sell stencils, personalised notebooks and friendship bracelets. 

7^th Heaven sell a variety of tie dye bandannas, notebooks, Christmas decorations and ornaments. 

Cotton Connection sell personalised t shirts and hoodies, taking custom design orders.

Birds and the Beads sell necklaces, bracelets and pendants, with the option for personalised colours.

Bubble’n’Co sell handmade soaps in a variety of scents, such as lavender, green tea and coconut. 

Our six start-up businesses are currently in their six-week trading period. They have had to adapt to trading in the times of covid by selling in their bubbled year groups, utilising websites and social media, and selling through order forms.

Each business chooses a charity to donate all of the money that they raise through these initiatives. This year’s charities include important organisations such as World Vision, Smile Train, generosity.org and The Trevor Project.

Trading will continue up until Christmas, and our teams will be judged on their profits made, creativity, problem solving, finance skills, self-management, communication, digital skills, teamwork and leadership.

If our students’ businesses are selected to move forward in the Tycoon Enterprise Competition they will be invited to the finals, which have been previously held at Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace.
