Queen Anne's Success at The Royal Academy Summer Schools' Exhibition

Inspired by the iconic Summer Exhibition, the Young Artists’ Summer Show offered primary and secondary level students the chance to exhibit their artwork at the Royal Academy – on site and online.

Submitted artworks were judged in key stage groups by panels of art experts including Royal Academicians, Royal Academy curators and Royal Academy Schools students. The exhibition will be curated by Royal Academician Bob and Roberta Smith.

The Young Artists’ Summer Show will be online from 10 June – 31 December 2019, and a selection of these artworks will be on display at the Royal Academy from 13 July – 4 August 2019.

The Royal Academy received over 6,200 entries. Out of this number, 700 were shortlisted, 328 will be seen online and just 139 will be seen online and at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition itself.

Ms Beales entered a total of 16 students’ work from their GCSE and A Level portfolios.

The following works were shortlisted which means that, although they will not be exhibited, the judges thought that they were of a very high standard:

And finally, Annie K’s (U5) double portrait Me and My Sister was one of only 139 artworks chosen to be exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition on site, out of over 6,200 artworks!

What is even more exciting is that this artwork is one of only 8 artworks chosen by Christopher le Brun, President of the Royal Academy of Arts, as a prize winner for most inspiring artwork.
