Senior Production Drama

A hugely talented cast of Queen Anne’s senior girls took to the stage on the evenings of Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 January and gave beautiful, powerful performances; bringing The Odyssey to life.

They told the thrilling story of Odysseus’ 10 year journey, full of war, death, love, faith, revenge and wonderment.

This year Queen Anne’s girls had submitted The Odyssey for consideration for the National Students Drama Festival (NSDF), an organisation which has helped generations of talented young people find their home within the arts.

Director Peter Bradley from the National Student Drama Festival visited the school to watch their performance and provide valuable feedback.

He spoke to the girls at length about their rehearsal process, and how they brought “the story that underpins the whole of western literature” to the stage.

He made the following points about their work:

  • The ensemble work felt very present, it was really strong with a lovely synchronicity.
  • It is great to have a rehearsal process so full of joy, and that shone through in the show.
  • Vocal delivery was fantastic, really filling this massive space.
  • I believed you were all definitely in that world.
  • There were powerful beautiful images, the group work was fantastic, and there was real strength in the stillness.

He then went on to answer thoughtful questions from the girls about his work as a director and how he would help an actor who was stuck in a scene, giving the girl professional tips on acting and directing.

Well done to all our actors for such strong performances!
