Whole School

The library is launching the Charter Reading Challenge! Merits and points can be gained for reading and reviewing books from the categories in this year’s challenge (see document attached). The Lower Fours and Fours are being encouraged to participate through their reading lessons, but the challenge is open to ALL pupils AND STAFF!

For pupils, you will receive 1 merit for every book you read and review. For every 5 books read and reviewed, you will receive a bonus merit. If you read books in all 25 categories during this academic year, you will be eligible for a Send Up.

Charter Reading Challenge Categories:

Mrs Norris will keep a tally of all reviews submitted from pupils and staff.

For staff, charter points will be awarded equivalent to the merits received by pupils.

Rules:

  • If you are currently reading a book which falls into one of the categories, you are welcome to finish it and review it for the challenge, but you may not enter a book for the challenge which you have already finished reading.

  • You must read and review a different book in each category.
  • Reviews must be original, not copied and pasted from the internet or any other source! (They only need to be a few sentences long).
  • Reviews should be submitted to Mrs Norris either through the library catalogue (instructions below) or by email.
  • You do not have to read a library book – books from home are also eligible. In your review, please state whether we should have it in the library, if we don’t already!

Reviews of books held in the library will be verified by Mrs Norris and published on the catalogue to inform other borrowers.

Instructions for posting reviews of books held in the library:

  • Log in to the Library Online from the QAS SharePoint home page
  • Search for the book you have just read and click on its image

  • Click on Write a review (under the book cover image)

  • Write your review, tell us who would enjoy this and give it a rating!
  • Click on SUBMIT

I will be notified that your review is ready for verification and publication and, all being well, you will receive your merit!

Please ask if you have any questions.

Enjoy your reading and may the most literary charter win!
