Queen Anne’s Music Scholars came together on Monday evening to share their latest performance work to a live audience.
The girls tackled an outstanding level of repertoire, from Chopin’s Variations on a Theme by Rossini which left even the audience feeling breathless from the complexity and speed of flautist Jaey (U5) to the hypnotic Organ and Piano duet by Bedard from Helen (U5) and Mr Padley.
Even the youngest musicians took to the stage with confidence and skill with sister violinists Amelia and Erin (U4/L4) presenting Tartini’s Allegro for Sonata in D and Lower 4 student, Florence sharing Danse Rustique on ‘Cello.
The second half of the concert was equally as dazzling with a wonderful performance by Molly (U6) of a Bach Toccata and Presto by Janacek on the piano as well as a beautiful rendition on two violins of Mountain Spring played by Yi Shan and Miranda both in Lower 5. It was really good to see that the number of chamber groups has grown and that the girls are learning the skills of accompaniment and collaboration which are so important. The concert ended with a wonderfully energetic rendition of Danse Macabre by Saint-Saëns on two pianos with eight hands. An exciting and thrilling way to end what was a fantastic concert.
