Queen Anne’s Student Gabrielle H (L6) gained the runner up highly commended prize in the Nancy Rothwell Competition 2022 for a scientific anatomical drawing.

Lower 6 students were asked to complete a drawing to enter into the competition based on an area of biology they were interested in while building on their microscope drawing skills. After being shortlisted for the prestigious award, Gabrielle attended the joint Royal Society of Biology and Royal College of Veterinary medicine presentation evening in October with her impressive anatomical drawing of a European rabbit. The Nancy Rothwell Award celebrates artwork that captures the details of anatomy, and this year more than 550 pieces were submitted by young artists from across the globe, assessed by an impressive panel of judges.

There were only three runner up highly commended prizes given, with each winner awarded a set of drawing pencils and a certificate. With the intention of studying Veterinary Science in the future, Gabrielle is particularly excited to have had her entry recognised. All highly commended entrants and winners have also been invited to an online experience day at the Royal Veterinary College. Congratulations to Gabrielle for a fantastic achievement.
