Sport Update December 2022

U12 Netball

This has been a week of many fixtures. On Tuesday the U12 B to D netball teams took on the Abbey. They won two matches and lost one, overall scoring 27 goals to The Abbey’s 15.

U15 Netball

Meanwhile the U15 netball team travelled to Cheltenham Ladies College for a gripping match in the School Magazine Cup. It was incredibly close, but unfortunately Cheltenham managed to steal the win by just two goals. The U15 netball team have done incredibly well and have placed in the top four schools in the South West entered in this competition.

Senior 1st team netball:

Wednesday was the craziest fixture day ever, with teams in netball, tennis and football all competing at the same time.

The senior 1st netball team travelled to Queen Elizabeth Hospital school in Bristol to play their third round match in the Sisters In Sport Cup. The standard was excellent and although QA lost it was a great game.

2nd  and U16 netball teams:

At the same time the 2nds netball team played Holyport and the U16 netball teams travelled to Maidenhead to play Claires Court.

Football.

The senior football team was also competing on the same day in the Independent Schools Football Association Cup. They played St Albans High School down at Christchurch Meadows in Reading.

Tennis

The final team competing on Wednesday afternoon was the senior 1st tennis team who were starting their campaign in this year's LTA Youth Schools Seniors competition. They were drawn to play Downe House in the first round. With wins in the singles and doubles match, they went on to win the overall match 10-2 and will now face St Mary’s Ascot in the 2nd round.

U13 Netball

On Thursday the U13 netball teams played against Claires Court, winning all their matches

(wait to give the girls time to read the commended etc!)

Senior South Schools Rally

The senior 1st team had a superb day on Thursday at the Senior South Schools Rally. They won 5 matches and drew 2 of their pool matches. They went on to win their quarter finals against LEH and their semi finals against Putney High and went through to meet Berkhamsted in the finals, placing 2nd overall.

Football

The senior football team played again on Saturday, this time against Charterhouse. At half time the score was a draw at 1 all, but then Charterhouse went on in the second half to score a couple more.

Lacrosse matches

On Saturday the lacrosse teams were out on our home pitches against some strong Putney teams. Overall, we won 1, drew 2 and lost 6.

Rowing

The Queen Anne’s girls competing for Thames Scullers in the Womens’ J16 coxless quad at the Wycliffe Small Boats Head on Saturday placed 2nd, despite the bitter cold.

Trampoline Regionals

The trampoline squad were up at the crack of dawn on Sunday and travelled to the Isle of Wight for the Regional Round of the National Schools Trampoline Competition. For some it was their first experience of a formal trampoline competition and for others it was their first experience in a higher difficulty category.

Congratulations to Amelia and Flo who won their respective categories and with the two inter teams placing 1st and 2nd we progess through to zonals in January.

Congratulations

Well done to all competitors, many of whom competed multiple times in different sports and good luck to all those competing in the final matches of the term this week.
