Alumnae World Book Day

Queen Anne’s School proudly welcomed back alumni Lauren Philliban for World Book Day on Thursday 6 March. Lauren, now a successful graphic designer and published author, shared her inspiring journey from student to storyteller with current pupils.

After leaving Queen Anne’s, Lauren pursued her passion for creativity at university, studying Graphic Design. It was there that her love for visual storytelling and creative writing came together, leading her to discover a talent for writing children’s books.

Lauren’s debut picture book, This is Our Island, has received widespread acclaim and is now recognised in the prestigious British Library collection. During her visit, she spoke about the creative process behind the book and led a workshop with A Level Art students to explore their own storytelling ideas through illustration and design.

She also spoke with a group of Creative Writing students about where inspiration can come from and even read and gave feedback on some of their work.

Lauren's visit was a highlight of World Book Day celebrations at QAS, both staff and students felt inspired to pick up a pen and start writing!
