A round-up of all the latest sports news in the week commencing Monday 23 September 2019.

Synchronised Swimming

Anna W (U6) has been putting her high level synchronised swimming skills to good use as a volunteer coach for the Electric Eels. This is a swimming & synchro club for Downs Syndrome athletes.

Last week was the European Downs Syndrome Swimming Championships and 3 athletes from the Club represented Team GB: two swam a technical solo and one swam a free solo.

Anna choreographed and was the Team GB coach for her swimmer, Millie. Millie competed in the free Solo event and won a bronze medal. All the athletes did amazingly and Team GB came away with 2 bronze medals!


Netball

There is lots of netball news from this week!

On Monday the U15s played LVS Ascot in the first round of the Netball National Cup. They beat LVS Ascot and will play a London school in the next round.

1st round v LVS Ascot: Won 47-20
Players’ Player: Izzi J (L5)
Commended: Flo C (L5)

On Tuesday there were matches against The Abbey for the U14s.

U14As: Lost 5-30.
Players’ Player: Katie L (U4), Beau B (U4)
Commended: Amelie H (U4)

U14Bs: Lost 8-16
Players’ Player: Bex L (U4), Amelia W (U4)
Commended: Grace J (U4)


Pre-County Netball Tournament 

On Wednesday those netballers shortlisted for the teams to enter the county round of the national schools netball competition competed in a pre-county tournament against The Royal Masonic School and Bradfield.

U13/U14s: Lula J (U4), Sophie G (U4), Amelie H (U4), Georgie G (U4), Beau B (U4), Sasha B (4), Michelle K (U4), Amelie H (U4), Lara R (U4), Katie L (U4), Phelix B (4), Iris C (4)

U15/U16s: Izzy W (L5), Izzi J (L5), Hettie W (L5), Holly B (U5), Olive R (U5), Sophie B (U5), Daisy S (U5), Flo C (L5), Zoe O (U5), Harriet S (U5), Emma B (L5)

U17/U18s: Talia J (U6), Georgie K (U6), Georgie R (U6), Hannah K (U6), Emily B (L6), Maddie C (U6), Evie H (U6), Hazelle M (U6), Izzy C (U6)

Saturday Netball Matches

On Saturday the U12 to U15 teams played netball v St George’s Harpenden, either before or after playing them at lacrosse as well.

U12Bs: Lost 2-4
U12Cs: Won 13-0

U13As: Won 21-7

Lacrosse

There were 8 lacrosse matches v St George’s Harpenden this weekend.

This week we played ten lacrosse matches. We competed against Wales, Reading University and St. George’s Harpenden. Overall we won 4, drew 1 and lost 3.

U12As: Won 13-3
U12Bs: Lost 6-7

U13As: Won 11-3
U13Bs: Won 5-2

U14As: Drew 6-6
U14Bs: Lost 3-6

U15As: Won 12-3
U15Bs: Lost 2-6

The 2nds lacrosse team played Reading University and won 8-2.

QAS 2nds v Reading University: Won 8-1
Players’ Player: Amelia F (L6)
Commended: Freya M (U5), Georgina L (U5), Charlotte D (U6)

The 1sts lacrosse team played Wales Development squad in a nail-biting match. The score was tight throughout but Queen Anne’s were really focused and won 8-6.
