Swimming Inter-House

On Monday 20 January, the school pool witnessed a very exciting Inter-House Swimming Gala that contained so much enthusiasm, physical effort and polished swimming strokes. No false starts or disqualifications meant Mr Blunt was a very happy man at the end of the contest!

A dedicated team of timekeepers stood poised with their stopwatches at one end of the pool, while house supporters and teams cheered enthusiastically from the sides.

Split into three different age categories, every House gave great efforts and competition was close throughout the twenty-one races. All four individual swimming strokes were on display. As ever, the relays generated huge excitement – speed and lots of noise were evident as every position and point became vital towards the overall scores.

In the end there could only be one winner and it was Wisdome House, who eventually ran out swimming champions for 2020! They narrowly pipped Wilkins House to the title with a strong finish towards the of the gala. Congratulations Team Wisdome!

Huge congratulations also goes to Harriet S (U5) for breaking the 4x25m senior individual medley swimming record, with a new time of 1min 15.91 seconds, beating the previous record of 1 min 16.20 seconds set in 2013 by Roshani Motha.

The overall results of the Inter-House Swimming Gala are as follows:

  • 1st: Wisdome
  • 2nd: Wilkins
  • 3rd: Ffyler
  • 4th: Webbe
  • 5th: Maddock

A big well done goes to all those who swam, especially those who stepped in at the very last minute to represent their House team!
