The Coronavirus Pandemic has resulted in a year of ups and downs. Lockdowns and restrictions have changed our daily lives, leading to people across the UK, some for the first time, to struggle with stress and anxiety.
Mental Health Awareness Week allows for greater focus on the importance of looking after your mental health, with the aim of integrating activities into your daily life that will positively influence your mental wellbeing.
This years theme for the week was Nature. It is proven that spending time in nature is central to our psychological and emotional health. Queen Anne's Head of Wellbeing, Ella Ormerod, organised a fantastic timetable of activities to encourage students and staff to connect with nature. Several fun activities were available, including 'Rhythm & Move', which provided an energy boost for the girls as the danced around the field; 'Singing for the soul' saw the staff sing their hearts out alongside the Consort Choir; Mr Blunt led the way for four sessions of Nordic Walking and Yoga provided the staff with the chance to unwind on Mitchell Lawn after another busy week.
Throughout the week a photography competition has been running, encouraging students to get outside to explore and capture nature. Teepees were welcomed spaces for the girls to sit in alone or with friends, to chat, relax, meditate or unwind. Students were encouraged to think about what their mental health means and why it matters, by anonymously filling out a green slip and pinning it to our giant pinboard.
