Excellent efforts for the DofE

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) is a brilliant experience offered to students at Queen Anne's. It gives the chance for those participating to make memories with friends, discover new interests and develop essential skills. Daisy in Upper 4s is currently completing her Bronze Award, which requires students to complete four sections; Volunteering, Skill, Physical and Expedition.

Daisy chose cooking as the skill she wished to develop. She has successfully tried and adapted many recipes, whilst learning how to use different kitchen equipment. The skill will be essential for Daisy when she completes her expedition in June, as she and all other students completing the DofE will be required to prepare and cook their meals. Daisy recognised the skill as "very handy" and has begun brainstorming meal ideas for the expedition.

Initially, Daisy wished to volunteer at Oxfam for the 'Volunteering' section, but due to Coronavirus restrictions she was unable to do so. Instead, Daisy started to make jewellery and donated her profits to Oxfam, which was a great way for her to learn another skill whilst helping a thoroughly deserving charity. Since restrictions have eased, Daisy has taken it upon herself to volunteer at Oxfam in her spare time.

The school offers lots of help and support to those completing the DofE. Mr Blunt, who runs QAS DofE programme, recognised Daisy for her exceptional efforts stating "Daisy has been thoroughly organised from day one with her Bronze DofE Award. Her enthusiasm around providing 'evidence' on the edofe system really stood out. The photographs and reports she has provided have been outstanding".
