The QAS Chronicle launched its first digital edition in December 2020 and is compiled and written by Lower Sixth students Joanna, Sahiba and Rowena. The girls aim to use the newspaper as a platform to keep the school connected with the wider community, while celebrating achievements within the school.

During the pandemic, the girls were inspired to develop the newspaper as they were becoming increasingly interested in events happening around the world, with a particular focus on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion issues that were impacting society. Joanna recalls "there was lots going on during lockdown which inspired us to start writing, such as Black Lives Matter and EDI. We wanted to write about it in an understandable and accessible format for all year groups to read". Rowena explained that she valued the research process; "you actually learn more about a subject once you start researching and looking a little deeper, so it becomes a very insightful and rewarding process".

The publication also focused on celebrating achievements of both current girls and alumnae; they recently interviewed alumna Annabel Akintoya about her views on diversity and inclusion issues. They hope to connect with alumna Navdeep Jabble (Sahiba's sister) who left Queen Anne's in 2013 and has since worked on the frontline during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The girls are currently busy working on the second edition of the newspaper, which they hope to publish soon. "We have lots of material for the next edition as we will be covering Cultural Week and Arts Week this term, as well as current affairs". There are also plans for a third and fourth publication as the girls hope their writing will inspire others to contribute to the newspaper as they wish for the publication to be a voice for all students. We look forward to reading the next issue!
