L6 Sixth Form

In the third lecture of the series, Miss Robertson shared with us her exciting experience in Russia.

Lower 6 student, Emily shared an insight into what the lecture entailed. "Russia is a truly important place to her, and it was great to hear all about the time she spent there, as well as all the knowledge she has about this vast country. She began by telling  us about Russia’s fascinating history, and some of the traits, artefacts and sights that Russia is famous for. This provided context for the second part of her lecture.

Miss Robertson went on to describe her visit to Russia. She spent a year in Russia, which she thoroughly enjoyed. We heard all about the weather, food and culture in Russia, which was something not many of us really had a sense of, and certain elements were quite surprising! Miss Robertson also travelled across Russia on the Trans-Siberian Railway. She took us along the journey, telling us about everything, from the famous places she saw at each stop, to the interesting people she shared a cabin with. During her time there, she improved her Russian massively, since very few Russians can speak fluent English, although she did have the opportunity to teach English to Russian children. Miss Robertson certainly didn’t fail to make everyone in the room laugh, and everyone left the lecture with a smile, as well as some new knowledge about the mysterious Russia."
