Reading Rowing Club Small Boats Head took place this weekend with several QA girls taking part with their external rowing club. The school is working in collaboration with Thames Scullers, with Miss Rutherford helping with transportation, coaching and of course cheering from the river bank.

It was fantastic event in which some of the girls raced the 4.6km course twice!

Students from L5, L6 and U6 were in boats this weekend with Dora (U6) and Lucy (U6) starting off the day in the Band 2 Women's Junior 18, double. The girls navigated the course well, securing the win against crews from local schools. They now have some lovely glassware to show off the win!

The J15s were out in full force in the Band 2 Women's Junior 15, coxed quad event. Flo (L5), Alice (L5) and Hannah (L5) made up crew A and Melissa (L5), Izzy D (L5), Izzy H (L5) and Flo made up crew B. For some of the girls it was their first race. They should all be proud of their performance with crew A finishing second.

Hannah then stepped up an age group into the Women's Junior 16, double. It was an exciting race and they just fell short of the win, coming a respectable second.

Lexi (L6) raced for Reading Rowing Club in the Band 1 Women's Junior 18, double and single. Lexi narrowly missed out but came an impressive second to some tough competition from Henley.

Representing Henley Rowing Club, Blair (U6) and Grace (L6), were part of the Women's Inter pair (2-) and Women's Junior 17 coed four, respectively. Blair and her partner rowed to a win.

Miss Rutherford said "It was great to see the girls out on the water and the event provided great experience for them. I am looking forward to seeing what the rest of the rowing season has in store for them!"
