QA Sounds - Our NEW Soundcloud channel!

Music Whole School

Since returning to school in September, our students have continued with new covid-secure ways of learning across all of our subjects.  Music is a subject that has been particularly challenged and as a result, has had to create new ways of practicing and rehearsing whilst following the government guidelines and most up-to-date advice.  Having successfully done this with a whole host of new initiatives, we are delighted to announce the latest of these - the launch of our very own Soundcloud channel, QA Sounds!

This platform will allow us to host a range of content, showcasing work from our music department including recordings of all performances and concerts.  Included in this will be a recording of our weekly lunchtime concert, and this will continue to give these musicians the ability to perform their latest work.  Our QA Sounds channel will allow our students to showcase their music work to a worldwide audience online and will make these performances as accessible as possible in the current climate.

Our Director of Music John Padley explained the importance of this new initiative “The pandemic has meant that we at Queen Anne's have been able to be creative in our approach to music and, having the facilities to allow our musicians to keep performing has been a great boost for them. It also means that we can reach more listeners than we may have done through the usual concerts in school especially our International parents who may not otherwise get the chance to hear their daughters play.”

In addition to recording these performances, we are also looking to develop the range of content after this initial launch to include interviews with musicians, discussing individual pieces of work including our musicians’ own compositions.
