L6 Competition

As part of the United Westminster and Grey Coat Foundation, every year Queen Anne's students take part in the Foundation Lower Sixth Essay Competition.

In this competition, students from the five foundation schools compete academically, by submitting a 2,500 word essay in which they critically analyse a subject of their choice and interest.

The top twelve entries are judged personally by Dr Nicholas Perkins from the English Faculty of St Hugh's College, Oxford University.

Our students submitted some superb entries on important topics, and we are delighted to announce that Queen Anne's students achieved both 1st and 2nd place in the overall competition!

Molly S achieved 1st place for her essay titled Why have the UK’S care homes for elderly people emerged as disproportionately vulnerable to COVID-19 fatalities during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Sahiba J achieved 2nd place for her essay titled Does Britain Owe Reparations to Post-Colonial India?

Congratulations to Molly and Sahiba, and to all of our Lower Sixth who submitted such thoroughly-researched and well-written essays to the competition.
