Across four days, QAS girls competed at the National Schools Lacrosse Championships in Aldershot. The girls all played brilliantly, showing their fierce competitive spirit along with great sportsmanship.

U13A

The team had a fantastic morning against some tough competition and scored some key wins. The girls successfully managed to qualify for the championship division and ended up getting knocked out later in the day. Ultimately they placed in the top 16 nationally and gained valuable experience of national tournament play, which they can build on in the future.

U14A

The team were placed in a tough pool and knew they had to play well in order to come in the top Cup knockouts. The girls had a tough first match against Putney High School but managed to draw against some highly ranked schools such as LEH, St Paul’s and Stowe. They had a great 7-1 win versus Dunottar and this secured 3rd place in the pool which took them to Division 1 knock outs. The girls then fought their way to the final by beating Marlborough College 4-1, Heathfield 3-2 and met St Paul’s again in the final. Holly (U4) scored some exceptional goals, but unfortunately St Paul’s raced ahead winning 5-3. The girls played very well throughout the day, and this was their first taste of a National Tournament.

U15A

The team did outstandingly in their morning matches finishing second in their pool winning 4, drawing 1 and only losing 1 match. The girls qualified for the championship division but their knockout matches were tough. They won the first knockout against Wycombe Abbey, but after a terrific fight went out in the next round, beaten by Berkhamsted who went on to win the tournament. A top 8 finish nationally is a great result and the girls should be proud of their play.

U15B

This was the very first National Schools Tournament for this year group. A special mention must be made of Toni (L5) who started playing lacrosse this January and scored two searing goals. They quickly learnt how to adapt to the pace of play and finished on a high, shutting out their final opponents 4-3. Bibi (L5) was our lead scorer and was closely followed by Tilly (L5) our seasons most reliable low attacker.

U19A

The team had a super tournament at the National Schools Lacrosse Championships. They were one of only three teams, out of an entry field of around 50, to maintain a 100% record at the end of day one. As a result, they progressed through into the final 16 and competed in the premier division on day two. Day two brought with it some incredibly tight matches, with a draw and two wins in the pool stages before ultimately going out in the knockouts.

U19B

The team  had a strong first day and made it through to the top 16 in the U19B team Championships. On day two they fought their way through some very tough pool stages before the knockouts. Their standout match was the 8-0 win against North London.

3RD TEAM

The team were placed in a very tough pool, but managed to draw against St Paul’s in the first match thanks to Katie (U5) goal which lifted the mood for the day. The girls played with grit and determination all day and despite playing some tough schools, they still managed to gain good possession of the ball and to keep it competitive. Unfortunately, the girls did not qualify for the knock outs, but they had a great day and lacrosse was the winner! These girls have exceptional team spirit and the girls from U5 and L6 have really bonded this season.
