Reunion Day 2022

Alumnae

On Saturday 14 May, we were delighted to welcome over 100 alumni and their families to our annual Queen Anne’s Society Reunion Day.

Under a brilliant bright blue sky, the morning began with registration and refreshments in Café 6, where many familiar faces met, embraced and squealed with excitement! We welcomed a whole range of cohorts, including some who were celebrating 10, 30 and 40 year anniversaries, not forgetting a handful of retired QAS staff and our new Head of school, Elaine Purves.

I just wanted to say that the class of 1974 had a fabulous time on Saturday. Thank you for arranging such a lovely event and for looking after us all so well.

I can’t believe its 40 years since we left – we still feel like 18 year olds.

Following registration, everyone gathered in the Chapel for a short service conducted by the QAS Chaplain, Rachel Ross-Smith. The service included 2 hymns chosen by Lucy Bureau (QA Society Chair),  ‘Lord of the Dance’ and ‘Give me Joy’. We also took time to remember all those Society members who had passed away over the last 12 months. The service concluded with the Queen Anne’s School Prayer, which many still knew off by heart!

Following a quick photography shoot on the front lawn, the former students were treated to a delicious buffet lunch in The Forum. This gave everyone the chance to chat, catch up and share memories whilst enjoying superb hospitality thanks to Steve Beaumont and his catering team. Many laughs were shared whilst looking over the archive material and the slideshows of old photographs. Ms Purves welcomed everyone to QAS and reiterated the warmth and importance of the QAS community and spirit that was in abundance that day. Congratulations to the cohort of 2012 who won two bottles of champagne for having the largest cohort group in attendance on the day!

After lunch, some of our current QAS girls took the alumni on a tour of the school. The weather was superb and the school grounds were bathed in sunlight for the entire day, highlighting the stunning campus and grounds. Many commented that the school’s building and facilities have improved dramatically over the years and were taken aback by the transformation;

I am blown away with all the magnificent new buildings and facilities at QAS and the whole campus looked absolutely immaculate! I have aways been so proud of QAS and I am the more so now!

The new facilities are amazing, what lucky girls – although I’m not sure about the athletic track, I always hated sports!

Thank you so much for a very happy and special day – delicious lunch and a fascinating tour by a delightful sixth-former

The day concluded with some light refreshments and a chance to peruse the QA Society merchandise. As the day drew to a close, many guests made plans to meet up at next year’s celebration if not sooner.

I really feel so very privileged to be an old girl! The relationships I built and experiences given to me at QAS have been such an integral part of making me who I am today!
