After the success of the 2021 Arts Week, QAS was excited for week of celebrating the arts.
Lunchtime concerts throughout the week filled the main school building with the sounds of percussion and woodwind instruments. Audiences gathered to enjoy music played in a casual setting by students from various year groups; some seasoned performers, others taking to the stage for the first time. Alongside the concerts, an art exhibition could be viewed in the Taylor Hall. Work produced by the students throughout the academic year stood proudly on display for staff and students to see. Ceramics, sketches and paintings where on display; a glimpse at the magnificent creativity of the students.
With several drama productions each year, arts week saw the school’s final show of the year, the junior production of Bugsy Malone. An energetic, fun show, complete with singing and dancing. The school’s youngest students showcased their theatrical talents across three nights to an audience of family and friends, receiving standing ovations for their performances.
For the students who choose art at GCSE or A Level art, the art department is a place where creative minds can run wild. With an abundance of resources and expert teaching staff on hand, the work produced at GCSE and A Level is phenomenal. Digital work, alongside textiles pieces, portraits and sculptures were on display for the family of the Upper 5 and Upper 6 during the school’s private view exhibition.
For QAS Fest 2022, Queen Anne’s opened its gates to the public as the school celebrated the end of term with an afternoon of festival themed fun. The rainy weather added to the Glastonbury feel of the day, as students performed, food was enjoyed along with fairground attractions, including a carousel.
Following QAS Fest, the Fitkin: Eight Hands Concert took place, with the school welcoming world-class musicians for a fantastic piano concert.
