L6 Alumnae

Former student and Head Girl, Hazelle left Queen Anne's in 2019 and is now living in London studying BA Politics at Kings College. She came back to speak with the Lower 6 about what she has been up to since leaving QAS.

Not only is Hazelle juggling living in London, playing Varsity netball and studying, but she has also set up her own online tuition business, XL Tuition. When lockdown hit Hazelle moved back home and found herself with some spare time, so she decided to use her knowledge from her experience of A Levels to set up a tuition business for 11+, 13+, GCSE and A Levels, focusing on Maths. Since then, the business has blossomed, with the help of her friends she began offering other educational tuition services such as Chemistry, Biology and English.

Hazelle also wanted to help students applying to UK Medicine courses and US universities, two notoriously difficult application processes. During the Sixth Form Hazelle aspired to attend a US university, she went through the application process herself but ended up staying in the UK. She spoke of her own experience with the process, providing the Lower 6 with helpful advice on applying. XL Tuition offers sessions on US university selection, SAT tutoring and Extra-curricular mapping, offering helpful advice and preparation for US university candidates for the entire admissions process, including interviews.

The UK Medicine course tuition is run by a network of current Medicine students from across the UK and offer potential candidates, MMI preparation and UCAT tuition. Aspiring Medicine students are able to work in small groups with students who have successfully been through the process, offering a great opportunity to hear tips and advice throughout their sessions.

Hazelle completed her talk by telling the Lower 6 what she would tell her younger self whilst at QAS; 1. don't do something because you feel you should, do it because you want to, 2. keep an open mind. She is extremely inspiring; it was wonderful for the Lower 6 to hear from someone who has achieved so much already since leaving the school.
