4S Trips

Last term, the 4s had been studying a selection of extracts from the novels of Jane Austen; part of this unit has been to study the historical and social context of the Regency era.

The girls really enjoyed the unit, which culminated in a trip to Jane Austen’s House Museum in Chawton, (the actual house Austen lived in the final years of her life!) and the Great House (the residence of her brother, Edward Knight).

Students had great fun on the trip which included an informative talk, an object handling session, tours of Chawton Cottage and Chawton House and the highlight – Regency dancing in costume!
