On Saturday 8 February the Twilight Dance Company headed off to the Cascade School Championships at West Kent College in Tonbridge. This was a new competition for the company, but the girls knew they were up against year groups from Year Seven up to Sixth Form in a variety of sections such as modern dance and contemporary as well as duets, solos and group performances.

Sophie and Aimee performed their duet ‘Leave A Light On' at the start of the day, and won the senior duet section! Not only did they win their section but they scored the highest mark for all the duets performed on the day.

The senior dance company performed a new routine, which they have been working on since the start of the Lent term. A high impact, fast paced and challenging routine of fouette turns, pirouettes and off balance side kicks, to name a few of the steps, were taught by Mrs Powell and Miss Marsh. This dance came 1st in the senior modern section. The Twilight Dance Company came 2nd in the college group section with their performance of ‘Woman’.

In the awards at the end of the competition there were special commendation prizes for most promising dancer, which Shali received and Twilight Dance Company also won most promising school for their talent, technical ability and potential!

Mrs Powell said:

All the girls performed really well on the day and gave committed and strong performances in all the sections they competed in. They did an excellent job and it has given them a boost for their next competition at the New Theatre Oxford in March.
