Our Sixth Form Art students attended a 3-day Art workshop where they visited the lovely seaside town of St Ives in Cornwall.

During the visit to St Ives, our students worked alongside a local artist and developed a range of skills and techniques to enhance their artistic practice. They also had the opportunity to visit Galleries and Museums which hosted artworks from well-known artists such as Picasso and Barbara Hepworth, as well as local artists’ work.

Our artists were inspired by the opportunity to explore local areas and develop a sketchbook of experimental drawings and mark-making. The experience highlighted the importance of how artists can become influenced by their surroundings and how to take inspiration from different places to create interesting artworks in varying forms. They also had the experience to explore local shops and cafes, and feel what life was like for many artists by the sea.
