Careers

In the Lower school, the Careers Programme focuses on self-reflection and understanding skills and strengths. This morning, students in Lower 4 (year 7) took part in a careers lesson to help them learn more about:

  • The difference between skills and strengths
  • How to identify them and self-reflect
  • How these skills are transferrable across many different areas of their life
  • How reflecting on their strengths and skills will help them to make an informed choice about their future
  • How to develop strengths and skills

The girls had a quick game of bingo to help them understand how skills and strengths are transferable across many different careers such as doctor, graphic designer, archaeologist, and journalist. They were encouraged to think of the activities they do on a daily basis where they might use skills such as teamwork, negotiation, and active listening. Activities such as taking a lead role, caring for others, volunteering, and acting as a peacemaker all provide good opportunities for them to each use their skills and strengths.
