QAS Alumnae share their university experiences from Princeton and Oxford Brookes

Last week the L6 were lucky enough to have a virtual talk from alumna Joanna who is in her first year at Princeton University. She explained the application process of the universities in the USA and how she is finding her first term at Princeton. She gave the students great advice including the importance of believing in themselves and backing their decisions.

I thought the talk was very informative regarding all the different choices when applying to American schools. Joanna was very helpful answering questions about applying for courses and financial aid, it helped me make a more informed choice of schools I am going to apply to.

Joanna, L6.

I found Joanna’s lecture on American university applications extremely informative and insightful. I especially loved hearing about the main differences American colleges have to offer compared to British universities, definitely solidifying my choice to apply to a university in America.  It was great to see an example of a successful application, and it’s thoroughly reassuring to know if I ever needed help or advise when applying myself, I can always ask Joanna.

The U6 were visited by alumna Kitty Williams who has just graduated from Oxford Brookes with a First Class degree in Business and Marketing Management. We were very lucky to get Kitty in before she travels around South America for the next four months. Kitty talked through everything from results day, to the first few weeks of university life and how to gain a top degree. Hopefully the students will take on board Kitty's comments of "Make the most of the staff at QAS, when you get to university you will really appreciate all the support they are here to give you."

It was really helpful in seeing how even if things don’t go to plan, there is always other options and life will be ok.

Minnie, U6.

We are always looking for QAS alumnae to share their experiences of university, careers and life since leaving school with our current students. If you have anything you wish to share, please contact our Alumnae and Community Relations Officer, Amanda Hatfield, [email protected]
