Competition

Over the weekend Queen Anne's scholars attending the World Scholar's Cup. Lower 6 student Heidi provided a summary on the weekend's activities.

Beginning on the Saturday, all of our teams from Lower 4 to Lower 6 (Year 7 - 12) attempted the Triple Threat Day of debating, collaborative writing, and the intense scholar’s challenge, a multiple-choice quiz, with great success all around. The debates were completed with a variety of success, but the scoring was not impacted by wins and losses. Collaborative writing was done next with the creative flair of the students truly visible. The scholar’s challenge, the hardest event, was still to come and each student was left with a true sense of accomplishment after this day. The bus journey home was a very quiet one.

On the Sunday, we still had the scholar’s bowl, a ‘kahoot’ style quiz, the scholar’s talent show, and the debate showcase to go. Teamwork is central to the scholar’s bowl and the success of this event could be clearly seen through the cheers among the teams. Olufunmi, Grace and I were chosen as top debaters to represent the school in the debate showcase and performed superbly. Performing in the talent show, Lav, Joelina, Alysia and Olufunmi sung, danced and played the guitar brilliantly. Lastly, we were rewarded for all our efforts with the awards ceremony. Over 200 medals and 40 trophies were handed out and every team we brought won medals as well as some trophies. Each team qualified for the next global round in Dubai. An amazing round all around! Our most successful team achieved 6 trophies and 24 medals in the senior division.
